A new U.S. study has concluded that, despite confronting heterosexism in a variety of social contexts, LGB parents and their children are functioning well.
The study’s lead author is Abbie E. Goldberg, an Associate Professor of Psychology at Clark University and a Senior Research Fellow at the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute.
The study provided an overview of contemporary LGB-parent family research, looking at LGB families formed through adoption, surrogacy, donor insemination or previous opposite-sex relationships. It looked explicitly at LGB parenting and not trans-parenting, which the authors believe raise a different set of issues that are worthy of their own study.
Critics of same-sex families insist that having two moms or two dads goes against a child’s best interests, but all studies done find this not to be the case.

Famous or not, families in any case
