The UK has elected a record number of LGBT people to Parliament.
45 out LGBT MPs were elected on June 8, a net gain of six.
2015 – 39 – 17 CON: 14 LAB: 8 SNP
2017 – 45 – 19 CON: 19 LAB: 7 SNP
The 45 represent 7% of the new House of Commons and is the highest level of representation ever in Britain and the world, representing a rise from 2015.
31 of the MPs are from England, 10 from Scotland, and 4 from Wales. Scotland continues to lead the way in the inclusion of LGBT voices in politics at 17%.
The 45 MPs do not reflect the diversity of the UK LGBT community. There are 36 men and 9 women. None are transgender.
